How to Get Into The Christmas Spirit

Hello friends!! Although it’s still November, I think that it’s safe to say that we are now in the holiday season. Honestly, last Christmas feels like 15 years ago, so it’s about darn time!! Anyway, since Christmas only comes once a year, we want to make the most of it, but sometimes it can be hard to get into the holiday spirit.

I don’t know about you, but most years, Christmas goes by before I even realize it’s December! I’m here to help you avoid that, bringing you a few tips on how to get into the holiday spirit!!

Watch a Christmas movie

A classic, of course, but am I the only one who goes through the entire season without watching any holiday movies?!? For real, this is such a staple of the holiday season, and after binging a few jolly films, you’ll be sure to feel a little more involved in the holidays!

Engage your senses

This works really well for me because I’m always stuck in my head. So, to get my mind up to speed, I have to activate my senses. Go outsid, light a festive candle, drink something warm, or anything like that. These triggers will remind your brain the Christmas is coming!!

Write a letter to Santa

Okay, this one sounds stupid, I KNOW THAT. However, my first “toy-less” Christmas in middle school I felt really conflicted about Christmas and presents. So, I got out some construction paper and made a cute little letter to the big guy. I didn’t give it to anyone, but just adding a little bit of my younger self’s traditions helped me get in the right mindset.

Browse Pinterest

Pinterest is a great way to put you in a holiday mindset. Browsing through some festive and aesthetic images will get you excited for the holidays, promise! Go to that search bar and I swear anything you type that’s Christmas related. So, cater the results to you! I tried “Christmas spooky,” Christmas vsco,” “Christmas beach,” etc etc… and was very happy with the results!

Limit screen time

Contradictory, I know, but part of the season passing us by is due to our lack of living in the moment. Spend this month focused on what’s important to you, whether that’s your family, friends, a goal you may have. Doing so will make you more reflective and grateful which will put you in the true holiday spirit!!

Participate in decorating

If your family has the means to do so this Christmas, help them decorate! I’ve done this a few times, when my family hangs the lights up outside and I stay inside on my phone- yeah, don’t do that! You can go on your phone any other time, help out your family decorate, or if you want, decorate your room!

There you have it, some simple ways to get you into the holiday spirit!! I’m going to be posting loads of holiday content soon, so make sure that you’re subscribed to my blog and following me on Instagram, so you don’t miss out!! Thank you for reading and happy (almost) holidays!

  1. These tips are all so useful! I love the writing a letter to Santa – that sounds so cute. I hope the big guy is alright up in the North Pole haha! I couldn’t agree more about the screen time one either. The most memorable moments of our life often aren’t when we’re on our phones. In winter I have a tendency to reach for my laptop and phone because it gets dark so early. Sometimes I should spend that time on reading or knitting, though, not mindlessly reading.

Very glad I read this though! Your blog brings me so much joy and this post was amazing.

    Thank you for sharing,
