Hello friends! It’s Meghan and I am crawling out of my cold sadness cocoon because it is now spring, so happy spring! Just the fact that it’s spring has made me feel 20x better because seasonal depression sucks.
Now, because it’s spring, I’ve decided that it’s time to start getting myself back to some healthy habits and do somethings to make me feel a little bit better. Today I’m going to share what I did this weekend to give you some inspiration to crawl out of your winter sadness too. I really didn’t think that it would make all that much of a difference, but I really do feel better and ready for the week! So, here’s what I did…
Picked up old hobbies
Not really old, but you may have noticed that I took a month or so off of blogging. I really just did not have the mental capacity to keep going with it. Honestly, I’m still a little out of it, but it used to make me really really happy, so I’m going to try and start again.
Spent as much time as possible outside
We had “fake spring” (aka those two random days where it was 70 degrees out) two weeks ago, and I spent every waking moment outside. Just sitting in the sun and feeling the breeze lifts my spirits. Making plans outside, like going for a walk (even if I don’t do them), also gets me really excited for the day.
Created new routines
I started new morning and night routines a month ago, but I was slacking, so I started actually doing them. I think it will be easier this time around because it won’t be pitch black and 20 degrees when I get up. Seeing the sun rise in the morning really does make it a whole lot easier to get out of bed!
Routines are also super important for me because that’s when I incorporate self care into my day. You can read about my full (older) routines HERE. Before I go to bed is the time when I journal and read, which I would never do if they weren’t structured.
Tidied my space
Some good old fashioned spring cleaning because a tidy space really does help with a tidy mind. I didn’t go overboard, but I brought down my lovely collection of cups, plates, and Lacroix cans. I also put away laundry that has been sitting out for a month and washed my sheets. Just a few little things to get rid of the bad vibes from winter.
Obsessed over spring fashion on Pinterest
Pintrest and I have a true love/hate relationship. I love the inspiration, but hate that it reminds me of all of the pretty clothes and places that aren’t in my life and the money I don’t have. Either way though, I am a little embarrassed to say that I scanned through and pinned some VSCO girl outfit inspiration, but I mean hot girl summer looks different to everyone…
I also started some online shopping, but not buying anything because that’s stressful. I do really need some new clothes though because I buy maybe 4 pieces a year, and the rest of my clothes are from middle school. Ugh, I’m gonna have to get a job soon…

Cleaned myself up
Even though I saw people the last few months at school and everything, I really feel like I kind of hid a lot of the time which meant my hygiene slipped a little (and by that I mean a lot). To start off, I painted my nails which is something I normally don’t do, but it felt right in the moment.
I also took an unnecessary long shower to exfoliate and shave my legs (because it’s been a while…) and detox my armpits with baking soda- something I swear by. My eyebrows were also due for a little cleaning up, and I shaved my face while I was at it because that’s my new insecurity.

Obviously I didn’t spend my entire weekend doing those things, it honestly only took me a few hours, but I really do feel so much better. So, if you’ve been feeling down lately, I definitely recommend trying a few things to help you pick yourself back up. What do you usually do to help yourself feel better? Okay, that’s it for now! Thanks for reading and happy spring!
